I have been traveling around the Philippines for almost every week. And somehow, I want to write again the insights and learning I found in every trip I made.
I am thinking, why should I write it? Why should I blog it? I may help discover a particular place or establishment, which in the long run may destroy it or commercialize it. Sometimes I thought of being selfish. I want to keep a place just to myself and to some people who already knew, so that others may not flock unto this place.
But If I really want to be selfish, I would seek what will benefit myself in the near future. And if people decided to visit a place I popularized, it will make the local people and place to have their own income. And when I return back to this place I want to keep secret, I may not be having a hard time commuting. Because of development and commercialization, there might be more public transportation and it might be more cheaper to travel now.
And that is the challenge I keep telling myself – to travel responsibly. Hoping that the place and culture would remain intact for its natural beauty, but also having tourist and traveler around that would help boost the local income.
And to travel cheaply, I would associate it by riding public utilities… I would associate it with joining travel groups… I would associate it with joining dive trips… I would associate it with lodging with common toilet and bath… and I would associate it with buying promo airline tickets.
Thus, here is my passion I made into a project. Project DIY Travel. Do It Yourself Travel.
Travel if you must, but do it yourself.
So, here is my blog and my documentation about my travels, Do It Yourself style.
