Me, as your coordinator

How Do We Do This:

  • Buy a plane ticket to Puerto Princesa City, arriving on or before May 28, 2011.
  • If CebuPac, avail Flight 5J 637 (ETD 0810H). If AirPhilExpress, avail Flight 2P 0941 (ETD 0730H). If PAL, avail Flight PR 0195 (ETD 0800H).
  • We meet at the MNL/PPC Airport. Upon Arrival, we check-in to our lodge (own cost). We must have a common or adjacent lodge, for better logistics. Better if we could avail lodging with free airport transfer.
  • We ride a public tricycle going PPC market area, to buy our packed lunch. There is Mang Inasal, Mcdo, Jollibee, Chowking, and Carinderias.
  • We take a tricycle going to Sta Lourdes Wharf.
  • If we have the number (say 10 pax), we could hire a van or a jeep for this purpose. If it is more expensive, we just take the tricycle.
  • At Sta Lourdes Wharf, we rent a boat. We’ll go the Starfish I, Snake I, and Pambato Reef. We take lunch at Snake I. Activities here: Snorkeling, White Beach relaxing, and Sight seeing.
  • I will bring the Snorkel Mask to be used.
  • After the Boat Trip, we will take a tricycle/jeep/van going back to PPC, to our lodging.
  • End of tour

How To Join:

  1. Have your plane ticket first.
  2. Email me at owenferrer@gmail.com if you are interested joining. We will discuss this through email.
  3. Make a reservation deposit – P200/person to my BPI account. Just to be sure we are serious about joining.
  4. I will confirm your deposit and joining.

Note: We can customize or incorporate some cost component of the tour (lodging, food, etc.), to make it as one package cost.

Hello Owen. I’m interested on joining your DIY tour. I’m just concerned on my group’s itinerary coz it’s our first time to go in Palawan.

We’ll be in Palawan from May 27 – May 30. Any suggestions? We wanna go see the Underground River and Port Barton as well.

    I’m thinking of this IT:

    May 27
    Arrival (7.30 AM)
    UR

    May 28
    Honda Bay Tour

    May 29
    Port Barton

    May 30
    City Proper
    Departure to MNL

    Thanks :)

hi xy, i have been to port barton. you should allot 3days for this minimum. better if you can spend 5-6days for this. the 2 days here is for travel PP-PB and PB-PP. i would suggest that you do PB, Roxas, San Vicente on some other longer vacation. getting tours in PP from agency is very easy. there are lots of them. so your UGR is easy to book there. just alot 1 day for this. other thing you can do at PP: dolphin watching, firefly watching, dos palmas daytrip, city tour… with regards to DIY Honda Bay. I will email you about this. Or we can discuss it here. let me know if you have questions about DIY Honda Bay.

      • xy mesina says:

Thanks so much Owen. Yup, it seems that Port Barton would have to wait the next time we go to Palawan.

We can go ahead and discuss tour details here (except your account details, if it’s okay, to also help other brave souls like us that prefer DIY tours. :D

My officemates tell me that Lola Itangs is good choice for lodging because of its practicality. If you have any suggestions about lodging, we can also consider that. We don’t mind staying in a 2-star hotel as long as it has aircon. (my friend is asthmatic)

        Thanks again!

      • owenferrer says:

        hi xy,

lola itangs’s is ok with me. although there is no free airport transfer i think. but we can ride the tricycle going there from airport. i think the fare is P10. haven’t stayed there, but i can sure try there. it is also near the market. hope they have free wifi.

actually i would just like to try any lodge… as long as there is free wifi. :)

        question:
        - how many are you going to PP?
        - all have plane tickets?

  3. xymesina says:

Not sure about WIFI in Lola Itangs. Accdg to their website, they have free one way airport transfer (from airport lang).. haven’t booked lodging yet.. we’re giving ourselves until the end of feb to decide and book.. so if u have stayed on one of the “okay” hotels.. we can also consider. :)

Airline tickets booked for 5 persons, but not sure na ung 1.. so malamang 4 lang kami.. we are still persuading him to go with us. We ‘ll be in PP na as early as 27 May. 7.30AM Zest air flight.

I’m still researching about the other tours. :D

    • owenferrer says:

      hi xy,

i think i am ok with lola itang’s. pero if you would like other lodging just let me know. i would realy like to try other lodging. i have only lodged at deloro inn.

i have been busy with diycoron lately, pero i will make updated computation for DIY Honda Bay tour cost, given your numbers.

      until then. keep in touch.

Hi! Me and my husband will visit PPS from Nov. 10-15! We are on a tight thats why Im trying to do planning myself. Hope you could help us out! Thanks in advance!

    • owenferrer says:

      hi danggit,

you may use the tip i made here. you can do DIY for Honda Bay that for sure. proven and tested. for DIY UGR, i will still have to test it maybe on August.

i will not be at PPC on your dates. what I can do is just post your travel dates in my DIY Trip Calendar in hope that others could join you – just in case.

    Hi, Owen!

Love your blog, thank you! It’s very informative ^_^

My family and some friends are going to Puerto Princesa and El Nido next month. I can’t seem to get DIY information on Dolphin Watching in PPS. Any tips?

    • owenferrer says:

thanks, aisha. i really haven’t tried to look around for boats for the dolphin watching. i can think of 2 possible places to rent boat for this 1) sta lourdes wharf, 2) puerto princesa port or just along the seaside – but i am not really sure.

  8. Lovely says:

    Hello Owenferer.

Magkano po rent ng boat at fare papunta Sta Lourdes Wharf? 2 persons lang po kasi kami eh. Mura kaya kung DIY for 2persons kaysa package from hotel na 1100/person?

    Thanks po.

    • owenferrer says:

hi lovely, yes mas mura pag DIY kayo… at pag may kashare kayo sa boat rent…. it can go as low as 700/person. boat rent dun ay 1500 (i think), pero standard naman ang boat rent doon sa sta lourdes wharf.

  9. Gracey says:

Hi Owen, your blog is very informative =) Would you know if we can still hire a boat for a Honda Bay Island Hopping if we take it around lunchtym na? Let’s say around exactly mga 12NN na? ty!
